College Counseling & Guidance

The Austin Preparatory experience is grounded in the philosophy of a community engaging the whole student spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. The Counselors seek to work with teachers, parents and school administrators for the benefit of the students. The Guidance/College Counseling Department offers on-going consultation and meetings among parents, teachers, and students as needed, and as a community, we are all dedicated to our students becoming life-long learners and enriching the world that we all share.

Since Austin Preparatory School serves students from grades 6 through 12, each grade level has specific needs that are addressed by our Counselors. The Middle School students meet in small groups once a month with their Counselor, who also meets with each of the Middle School teacher teams every six days. This method affords opportunities to keep the lines of communication open among students, teachers, and parents.

In grades 9 through 12, the Guidance/College Counseling Department utilizes individual counseling appointments to offer academic, personal and developmental counseling, as well as assistance in the college selection process.
