Rules for Austin Dances - Guests
  • Students and their guests may be required to undergo a Breathalyzer test before entering or during the dance upon the direction of a dance chaperone. Students who decline the test or test positive for alcohol will be excluded from the dance and released only to a parent or guardian.
     
  • Guests must have submitted a Dance Request form signed by an administrator of their school. Austin students are responsible for the behavior of their guests.
     
  • Large bags are not allowed in the dance (they will be stored in a designated area), pocketbooks will be subject to search. Other searches may be conducted if there is reason to suspect the presence of an illegal substance.
     
  • ALL students must present proper student identification.
     
  • Alcohol, weapons or drugs of any kind are strictly prohibited. Chaperones will seek the assistance of the police detail if necessary and release students to parents or police when alcohol, weapons or drugs are involved.
     
  • Food and drink must stay in the designated area at all times.
     
  • Excessive physical contact will not be tolerated. Grinding is not allowed; students will be warned for a first offense and asked to leave the dance if they break the rule a second time.
     
  • Austin is not responsible for items that are lost or stolen.
     
  • Consequences for infractions will range from expulsion from the dance, detention, suspension or expulsion.
     
  • Proper dress is required. Austin reserves the right to deny entry if dress is deemed inappropriate by school administration.
     
  • Boys should wear pants and shirts appropriately.
     
  • No bare midriffs, plunging necklines, tank tops or backless tops will be allowed.
     
  • No clothing with advertisement of alcohol or drugs or with offensive language will be allowed.
     
  • Skirts and dresses must be of appropriate length.
     
  • All students must arrive at the dance by 8:00 unless they have received prior permission from the Assistant Headmaster for Student Life to arrive later.
     
  • Students may not leave the dance before 9:30 without special parental permission and may not reenter the dance after leaving.
