College Planning Guide: FreshmenWelcome to a very challenging and busy time. While you have a great deal of work to do, you will find that careful planning and attention to dates will make the process run smoothly.
SEPTEMBER
• September 2: Registration & Orientation for grade 9 @ 10:15 AM
• September 3: Classes begin for all students
• September 30: Student Evaluation reports for 1st Quarter
• All freshmen begin individual guidance counseling sessions which will continue throughout the year
• All freshmen begin group guidance sessions which will take place once a month
OCTOBER
• October 14: ACT Explore Test for all Freshmen (11:30 AM dismissal)
NOVEMBER
• November 3: 2nd Quarter begins
• November 14: Entrance Exam 8:30-11:30 AM, (ending time approximate)
• November 19: Parent-teacher Conferences, 3-5:00 PM, 6:30-8:30 PM, all grades, all appointments open
• Start thinking and planning for college – Look at brochures and catalogues, visit collegeboard.com
DECEMBER
• December 7: Student Evaluation reports for 2nd Quarter
• December 12: Make up Entrance Exam 8:30-11:30 AM (ending time approximate)
• Discuss results of Explore Test with guidance counselor, if needed
JANUARY
• January 19, 20, 21: 1st Semester Exams, noon dismissal for all students
• January 25: 3rd Quarter, 2nd Semester begins
• Fill out course selection sheets for grade 10
FEBRUARY
• February 11: Parent-Teacher Conferences, by appointment only,2:30-5:30 PM
• February 22, 23, 24: New grade 9 Visitation Days @ 8:30 AM
• February 24: Student Evaluation Reports for 3rd Quarter
MARCH
• March 2: Make up day for new students visitations, all grades
• March 19: Career Day
• March 29: 4th Quarter begins
APRIL
MAY
• May 3-14: Advanced Placement Exams
• May 5: Student Evaluation reports for 4th Quarter
JUNE
• June 9, 10, 11: Final Exams, noon dismissal for all students
• Receive assignments for summer projects from English and Latin Departments
