Austin Preparatory School :: Athletics :: Athletics

Welcome to the Austin Preparatory School family! Together, we will have a successful year in our classrooms and on our fields.

Austin offers athletes in all grades many opportunities to participate and compete. For your convenience, be sure to check the Fall Tryout Schedule, listed under the Fall Sports tab at left.

A few reminders:
• In order to be eligible, all candidates must register through Family ID (both Sections 1 and 2. Click here to be brought to Family ID). Also, all candidates must have on file in the Austin nurse’s office a copy of a current physical examination.

• All athletic candidates new to Austin or entering Grade 9 have to take the concussion baseline test known as the ImPact test. The test will be administered in the computer lab on the first floor of McLaughlin Hall (main school building) in August. Students have to fill out the registration form through Family ID in order to take the test. The test will be offered on the following days:
Wednesday, August 14: every hour from Noon to 5:00 pm
Thursday, August 15: every hour from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
The test will be administered at the start of each hour. You do not need to sign up in advance but you have to arrive before the hour begins to take it, otherwise you will need to wait until the following hour. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Nairi Melkoinan, ATC, at

I encourage you to participate in sports this year. Austin Athletics has a place for you to excel, to discover your talents and to share your abilities. Find your passion, be a proud Cougar and show your school spirit!

Austin Prep boasts a competitive and accomplished athletic program.  As an all boy’s school in the 70’s and early 80’s Austin competed in the Merrimack Valley Conference and then the prestigious Catholic Conference.  With the addition of the Middle School program a built in feeder system was established for the program.  The coming of co-education at Austin served to enhance and deepen our sports programs with the addition of young women athletes and introduced co-ed athletic teams at Austin.  We have much to celebrate, in terms of our athletic programs.  Our athletic teams are some of the regions most accomplished and competitive.  At Austin we seek student athletes, combining both strength and skills on the playing fields and in the classrooms.

Austin Prep is a member of the Catholic Central League, in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.  Some of our more spirited rivalries include; Bishop Fenwick, Arlington Catholic, Archbishop Williams and St. Mary’s as well as some much larger schools in the area including St. John’s Prep and Central Catholic High School.

Austin Prep’s Athletic Mission:  As an institution that strives to fully develop each student’s potential, we realize the importance of fair play and honest and respectful competition. We believe that a sound interscholastic athletic program provides the participant with physical, mental, moral, emotional and social benefits.

For more information on the Austin Prep Athletic program please contact our Director of Athletics, Mrs. Patricia Gonzalez.
